Women in Pizza: Miriam Weiskind

**In celebration of Women’s History Month, I’ll be posting about women in the pizza community every few days this month. The pizza biz is pretty male-dominated, so let’s take this opportunity to throw the spotlight onto some of the women who are doing amazing work in the pizza world.

It’s not easy being a professional pizza obsessive. Your high school guidance counselor doesn’t really give you that option when you’re in search of a career. That didn’t stop Miriam Weiskind, who just might love pizza more than any other person I know. It’s almost disturbing. Miriam works with me running tours of significant pizzerias around NYC via Scott’s Pizza Tours

She also blogs at her site The Za Report, where you can read her rants on all things pizza-related. Also a competitive triathlete, Miriam has combined her interests with a series of pizza crawls in which participants visit a set of three pizzerias, running from one to the other. She gets some serious runners who like to get their slice on.

Miriam is a serious pizza educator whose work has resulted in deeper thought about the elements of the humble Italian dish. You can take her tour most Fridays, her sacred day of pizza escape from her beloved day job of graphic design
