**In celebration of Women’s History Month, I’ll be posting about women in the pizza community every few days this month. The pizza biz is pretty male-dominated, so let’s take this opportunity to throw the spotlight onto some of the women who are doing amazing work in the pizza world.
Pina Natale is the anchor of the ship at Pugsley Pizza in the Bronx. She runs the place with her husband Sal and their son Pete. It’s an amazing place that’s the perfect hangout for Fordham University students but absolutely worth the trip from the other boroughs. Like her husband, Pina is from Sicily. The two met and married there before heading back to the US, where they went into business making classic New York pizza.
Pina and Sal are like family to their customers. There’s such a strong feeling of love when you walk into the room; it’s tremendously special. Alumni come back on homecoming weekend just to see them and give life updates. Pina is an incredible person and I strongly encourage every human to head to 191st St to meet her.
