Women In Pizza: Liz (Barrett) Foster

**In celebration of Women’s History Month, I’ll be posting about women in the pizza community every few days this month. The pizza biz is pretty male-dominated, so let’s take this opportunity to throw the spotlight onto some of the women who are doing amazing work in the pizza world.

Few have done more to spread the joys of pizza than Liz Barrett. As editor-in-chief of PMQ’s Pizza Magazine, she managed one of the pizza industry’s leading sources of information from 2007 to 2014. That’s when I met Liz and was totally blown away by her interest and energy. Even though she has now left her post at the magazine, Liz continues to write pizza stories that help define the industry.

Based in Oxford, MS Liz still writes for PMQ and various other publications, but perhaps her biggest contribution to pizza is her excellent book Pizza: A Slice of American History, which came out in 2014. It’s filled with great information and photographs about pizza’s rise over the course of the 20th century. It’s an absolute must-read for any pizza lover.
