NJ.com: Love Pizza, Will Travel
Lots of people love pizza. But Scott Wiener takes it to another level.
Wiener, a Hoboken resident of two years, launched Scott’s Pizza Tours this spring, an off-the-beaten-path tour of some of New York City’s best pizza joints.
“If you tell someone in New York you know a great pizza place, they’ll tell you the place across the street is better,” said Wiener of New Yorkers and their signature slices. “But even lots of New Yorkers haven’t discovered or explored all five boroughs.”
Wiener said he’s looking for “adventurous” customers, who want to experience delicious pizza at little-known spots.
The first tour is today (sold out last week) and will take participants to four of New York’s “hidden” pizza places – Lombardi’s on Spring Street in Manhattan (Wiener said it’s the first licensed pizzeria in the country), Luzzo’s on 1st and 13th, Patricia’s in Morris Park in the Bronx and finally, Louie’s and Ernie’s in the Bronx.
For those who missed today’s tour, Scott’s next pizza tour will be May 11th. Tickets are $55 for adults, $45 for kids 4-12, which gets you four slices of cheese pizza, a goodie bag – and a tour of some of NYC’s most interesting neighborhoods!
